Chivers CD

Core Collection

November - December

2004

In 1999 Chivers decided that the time was right to issue selected complete and unabridged audio books on compact disk as well as cassette, in recognition of the huge changes in audio technology in the 1990's. This has proved an enormous success, and in response to your requests for even more CD titles to meet customer demand, we are delighted to announce the launch of The CD Core Collection.

Many of the Chivers finest recordings and most popular titles were published before the days of CD, so we have chosen 35 jewels form our treasure chest of over 2000 titles to issue on compact disc.

These CD essentials include a wealth of riches that no serious CD library collection can do without. There's Jane Austen's classic Pride and Prejudice and Evelyn Waugh's Brideshead Revisited reads by Jeremy Irons, star of the unforgettable TV adaptation. All of the Queens of Crime are represented: Agatha Christie, Ruth Rendell. P.D. James, Margery Allingham, Ellis Peters and Dorathy L. Sayers. Those who prefer non-fiction are catered for too, with Jung Chang's memorable Wild Swans and Michael Palin's round - the - world travelogue, Full Circle. Watch out for modern classics like Louis de Bernières' phenomenal Captain Corelli's Mandolin (Review).

You can take the entire Core Collection, or simply choose those titles most suited to your own library. Whatever you decide, you can be sure that these high-quality digital recordings will be borrowed time and time again.
