Tess Gerritsen
The Bone Garden
Present day: Julia Hamill has made a horrifying discovery on the grounds
of her new home in rural Massachusetts: a skull - human, female, and according to Boston medical examiner Maura Isles, scarred with the unmistakable marks of murder. Boston, 1830: A nurse is found mutilated on the university hospital grounds, and then a distinguished doctor meets the same grisly fate. The prime suspect is Norris Marshall, a penniless student and 'resurrectionist' who plunders graveyards to sell the dead on the black market. To prove his innocence, Norris must track down the only witness to have glimpsed the killer: Rose Connolly, a beautiful seamstress who fears she may be the next victim.

The Camel Bookmobile
Once a fortnight, the nomadic settlement of Madidima, deep in the Kenyan desert, awaits the arrival of a camel train laden with books. This is the Camel Bookmobile, a scheme set up to bring books to nomadic tribes. Into their world comes an unexpected wealth of literature. Kanika devours every book she can. Her best friend is Scar Boy, considered an outcast by the rest of the tribe. They are joined by Matani, the village teacher; his wife, Jwahir; and the drummaker, Abayomi; as well as Mr. Abasi, the camel driver, who is convinced that one of the camels is possessed by the spirit of his dead mother. The only condition of the Camel Bookmobile is that every book must be returned or else the visits will cease. Then one day a book is stolen.
